From 12. – 16. August 2026, Frankfurt / Main will welcome around 300 of the world’s best rhythmic gymnasts to the city’s iconic Festhalle for the 2026 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships. One athlete is already at the center of anticipation: Darja Varfolomeev. The 18-year-old sensation dominated the multi-sport event “Die Finals” in Dresden, capturing all five available national championship titles. Her rise began with an unprecedented sweep of five gold medals at the 2023 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Valencia, followed by an unforgettable Olympic debut in Paris, where she claimed every possible title and was later named Germany’s Sportswoman of the Year. She will be joined by a formidable German squad: Margarita Kolosov, fourth at the Paris Olympics; Anastasia Simakova, 2025 European silver medallist and 2025 World bronze medallist; and the German group, 2025 European bronze medallists—all determined to make their mark on the world stage in Frankfurt and to defend their team medal.
