Frankfurt am Main is on the move — and not just to the beat of rhythmic gymnastics. Visitors arriving for the World Championships in August will experience a city that views sport as an integral part of its urban pulse. Between the Main River and the Messe, a dynamic unfolds that captivates locals and visitors alike: powerful, versatile, and always in flow.

The many athletic faces of the Festhalle
Traditionally a place of movement: As the venue for rhythmic gymnastics, the Festhalle will set the stage for precision, elegance, and peak performance. But its varied history is filled with diverse acts: Those who come to love the venue during competition can rediscover it time and again through a myriad of different events — whether during the emotional red carpet-finish of the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon, at the International Festhalle Equestrian Tournament, or the festive Ball of Sports. Seldom has a venue embodied the transition between tension, emotion, and spectacle so impressively.

International highlights in the heart of Europe
Frankfurt am Main will remain in top sporting form even beyond 2026. In 2027, the city will host the UEFA Europa League Final: an event that holds special significance, not least thanks to Eintracht Frankfurt’s own triumph in 2022. A year later, the EuroGames 2028 will follow: Europe’s largest multi-sport event for the LGBTIQ* community, held under the motto “Sport, Democracy, and Freedom – in the Heart of Europe.” It’s a celebration of diversity where athletic competition and social tolerance go hand in hand. Then in 2029, Frankfurt am Main will again become a host city for one of international football’s biggest highlights — the UEFA Women’s EURO.

Frankfurt am Main: A vast urban playground and sports arena
Those who want to get active themselves will find ideal conditions in Frankfurt am Main. A run along the river offers a seamless transition between water, greenery, and the skyline. The bridges allow for customisable route lengths, depending on your mood and fitness level. In Osthafenpark, modern sports facilities — including a skate park, calisthenics area, and basketball courts — await anyone looking to burn off some energy. On Tuesday evenings, people gather here for a unique kind of athletic city tour: Tuesday Night Skating, where hundreds of people glide through the streets together on inline skates.

An unparalleled experience with a unique perspective.
Exercise for everyone: Spontaneous, uncomplicated, communal
Sports boxes at ten locations throughout the city ensure maximum flexibility: Open via app, borrow equipment for free, work out, and return everything — there’s no easier way to plan a spontaneous workout.

And for those who value a sense of community and authenticity, join one of the “Fit in Frankfurt” walking groups led by local buddies life to experience life in the diverse neighbourhoods of the Main metropolis.

Frankfurt am Main invites you to follow your own athletic rhythm — with heart, attitude, and plenty of possibilities.
